LPT: Don’t throw your junk mail away. Use it to to help the USPS instead!

Next time you get a credit card offer in the mail, or a junk piece of mail that includes a prepaid envelope or postcard, don’t throw it away! Send the envelope back with a blank sheet of paper inside, or don’t fill the postcard out, but still send it back. The company that sent it to you had to pay the USPS for postage on each one they get back. This is a way to support the USPS by doing very little, and sticking it to the annoying companies that want all of your money.

In the 90s we would send companies “hate mail” by stuffing prepaid envelopes with things like ‘blanks’ (flat heavy metal pieces), a roofing shingle) and layers of other competitors’ mail or junk news. This is because the company would have to pay more upon recieving the junk mail. It eats into them. It actually somewhat reduced our junk mail returnables, I think.

Send that mail y’all.

Except please don’t do this to nonprofits!!

If you do this when you get a donation request or something from a nonprofit, you’ll be forcing small organizations with very little overhead to deal with the incoming mail and paying for the postage.

Credit card companies? YES. Personal loan offers? ABSOLUTELY. The chain store you’ve never shopped at who bought your info from a competitor? BY ALL MEANS.

But don’t do this to your local “Friends of the Library” fundraiser or homeless outreach program or anything like that. You’ll be draining their limited resources that would be better used elsewhere.

Feel free to do it to groups like Salvation Army, PETA, or Susan Komen cuz fuck them.

In the summer, the Sylvia Grinnell River near Iqaluit is a popular spot to fish for Arctic char where ice-cold water cascades over rocky ledges.

Now, with thick layers of ice and snow covering the flowing water below, it has become one of the city’s main water sources for drinking and cooking.

The other comes in thousands of plastic water bottles that arrive by plane.

It’s been almost two months since Iqaluit’s tap water was declared undrinkable. On Oct. 12, the city declared a state of emergency when fuel was found in the water supply. Residents had complained the water coming out of their taps smelled like fuel.

Since then, the city has dug up an old underground fuel tank from 1962, which was buried next to the water treatment plant and thought to be the source of the contamination.

Police are now confirming that James and Jennifer Crumbley have been taken into custody on Detroit’s east side. They were arrested near St. Paul and Concord.

According to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office, Detroit police received a 911 call from a business owner who saw the couple’s car in his parking lot, on Bellevue near Jefferson in Detroit. He also reported seeing a woman near the car. She ran from the scene when he called 911.

During a news conference, Detroit Police Chief James Craig says there is video of one of the suspects going into the building. They were arrested in a room inside a commercial building in the area. White says they have information that the couple was helped in getting into the building and that will be part of the investigation. When asked, White says someone let them into the building and they did not break in.

White also says they have identified the person who helped them and that person will face charges. White says whatever those charges will be will be determined by the office of Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy.

White also says the couple has been turned over to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Department.

The couple was located after a search by DPD, which included K-9 units. They will be taken to the Oakland County Jail tonight, and are expected to be arraigned sometime after 9 a.m. in 52-3 District Court.  …

James and Jennifer Crumbley, the parents of accused Oxford High School shooter Ethan Crumbley, were arrested early Saturday in Detroit after hours of searching. Detroit police said it appeared they were hiding and that they gave themselves up.

The two were taken to Oakland County Jail for processing after their arrest as fugitives by Detroit police on the city’s east side. They were found in the basement of a commercial building at 1111 Bellevue Street.

Detroit Police Chief James White said the pair appeared to look distressed as they were arrested - but were not armed, and did not resist. White said the building was an art studio and that the two were allowed inside by someone.

“They didn’t break in. somebody let them in,” White said. “We don’t know the relationship yet. That’s active. That person could face charges.“  …

Michelle Cobb holds nothing back when describing James Crumbley, her ex-boyfriend and the father of her 18-year-old son.

“He’s a piece of (expletive). He really is,” Cobb told 7 Action News Friday.

Cobb said Crumbley left their son and a daughter he had with another woman in Florida when he moved out of state with Jennifer Crumbley.

Cobb said the issues were not the relationships between the adults because she and the mother of Crumbley’s now 24-year-old daughter chose to have a friendship for the sake of the children.

But Cobb said Jimmy (James) and Jennifer always looked for ways to criticize and complain about her because they hated that he had to pay child support for his son, Eli.

“I cried the moment he turned 18 because, I thought, all of this hell is over as far as dealing with my son’s father,” Cobb said.

She said it was Jennifer Crumbley who was running the show and that she made it difficult for Eli to get closer to his dad and half-brother Ethan.

“Jennifer was a monster,” Cobb said. “She could do no wrong and she was right about everything. I mean, this is exactly the kind of attitude she has. Like, she, literally, thought she was better than everyone.”

When announcing the decision to charge James and Jennifer Crumbley with four counts of involuntary manslaughter for the killings their 15-year-old son Ethan allegedly carried out at Oxford High School Tuesday, Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald pointed to Jennifer’s Instagram post that has now become evidence in the case against the couple.

The post, which shows a picture of a handgun displayed in an open case, reads: “Mom & son day testing out his new Xmas present. My first time shooting a 9mm I hit the bullseye.”

Cobb said she wouldn’t be surprised if James and Jennifer purchased the semi-automatic handgun with the intent that it would belong to their tenth grader.

“They pretty much gave him whatever he wanted,” she said, adding, “Why would you let a 15-year-old have access, especially knowing that just a few days prior that he was having problems at school?”

Cobb said while the Crumbleys were giving Ethan whatever Ethan wanted, it was a hopeless struggle to get James to pay $67 a week in child support when he was earning a six-figure income.

“My son is six-foot-three and 240 pounds. Do you know how much $67 a week pays? And he wears a size 17 shoe,” she said.

Cobb said Jennifer Crumbley made it unbearable for her son to spend time with his dad and Ethan, but she’s thankful her son returned to Florida just before the pandemic.

“The first thing that came to my mind when all of this happened was how thankful that I was that my son was not there,” she said.

Eli spent about four months visiting the Crumbleys in their Oxford home before deciding to go back to live with his mother.

Cobb said she’s heartbroken for the families whose children were killed or injured.

And she said Ethan and his parents must be held accountable for their roles in the tragedy.

“I hope they get the maximum, honestly, all of them. They deserve it. They they need to be held accountable for what their child did. They need to have a reality check.”

Sounds like the monster birthed a monster.
