On this day, 10 December 1984, Lesbian and Gays Support the Miners put on a benefit show at Camden’s Electric Ballroom featuring Bronski Beat to support coal miners who had been on strike for several months against mass pit closures. The gig raised over £5000 for strikers in south Wales. LGSM came to prominence recently after being the subject of the excellent 2014 film, Pride. Listen to the inspiring story of the group and the local mining community in our podcast episodes 27-29, on every major podcast app, or on our website: https://workingclasshistory.com/2019/06/10/e23-25-lesbians-gays-support-the-miners/ https://www.facebook.com/workingclasshistory/photos/a.296224173896073/1872964819555326/?type=3

Saint Nicholas is not coming this year. Instead, a much darker, ancient spirit. His name is Krampus. He and his helpers did not come to give, but to take. He is the shadow of Saint Nicholas.
