My manager (in MICHIGAN) is already talking about how bad unions are 💀💀💀
Seriously, any other sb workers; get ready. They’re going to get real convincing. They’ll tell you the union is going to take your benefits, that they will take your money, that they get in the way of the store being a family; they will threaten and cajole whatever which way they think will get you to vote no.
From experience; unions go sour when employees get complacent and the company swoops in. Elections get revotes when they aren’t what the company wants. Union officers inevitably put in their two weeks, (I get it, it happens, they’re human and there are greener pastures), and they don’t get replaced… And then that same company uses the fact that you *are* unionized to take advantage of you- because it must be above board if there’s a union, right?
Protect what you have and build gains. 15 in January is good; regular pay raises and guaranteed hours are both better. Biyearly personal days are good- push for a week’s vacation on your one year instead. Decent health insurance is good; get lower premiums and better coverage.
They made the 15 concession out of fear, and they’re about to get backed into a corner nationwide; keep. pressing. Starbucks was already better than most retail jobs comparatively, but we’re still struggling. Keep pushing, and remember- if they can get away with something, they will try. They’re spending a LOT on anti union training and experts for a reason.
This blog is mostly so I can vent my feelings and share my interests. Other than that, I am nothing special.
If you don't like Left Wing political thought and philosophy, all things related to horror, the supernatural, the grotesque, guns or the strange, then get the fuck out. I just warned you.
