Billion-dollar property investment venture Progress Residential has been buying up homes in suburban Nashville since 2012, profiting off of the fallout of the housing market crash of 2008. The firm has not only outbid and out-priced regular home buyers and provided sub-par services to tenants, but it is also bankrolled by ultra-wealthy investors from all over the world. Ana Kasparian discusses on The Young Turks. Modest in size and clad in vinyl siding, the houses were priced below $200,000 when most were built about 15 years ago, and for many families in suburban Nashville, they represented a first chance at homeownership. A corrections officer bought one, and so did a housekeeper and an electrician. Then some of the world’s wealthiest people bought in.” *** The largest online progressive news show in the world. Big Pharma drug manufacturer Celgene Corp. is turning the heads of customers as well as the Department of Health and Human Services due to the constantly rising price of the drug Revlimid, which has increased since 2006 with impunity. Former CEO Robert Hugin even bragged about Celgene’s monopoly to Bloomberg back in 2012, and their practices still haven’t stopped. Ana Kasparian discusses on The Young Turks. Watch LIVE weekdays 6-8 pm ET. http://youtube.com/theyoungturks/live Read more HERE: https://www.npr.org/sections/health-shots/2018/05/17/571986468/how-a-drugmaker-gamed-the-system-to-keep-generic-competition-away “When Celgene Corp. first started marketing the drug Revlimid to treat multiple myeloma in 2006, the price was $6,195 for 21 capsules, a month’s supply. By the time David Mitchell started taking Revlimid in November 2010, Celgene had bumped the price up to about $8,000 a month. When he took his last month’s worth of pills in April 2016, the sticker price had reached $10,691. By last March, the list price had reached $16,691. Revlimid appears to have caught the attention of Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar, who used it as an example Wednesday — without naming it outright — of how some drug’s prices rise with impunity. He said the copay for the average senior taking the drug rose from $115 to about $690 per month in the last year.” *** The largest online progressive news show in the world. President Joe Biden has reversed his decision to un-freeze student loan repayments, extending the deadline to May 1st to resume loan payments. Ana Kasparian discusses on The Young Turks. Watch LIVE weekdays 6-8 pm ET. http://youtube.com/theyoungturks/live Read more HERE: https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/education/2021/12/22/student-loan-payments-biden-extension-may-2022/8970503002/ “President Joe Biden reversed course on Wednesday and extended the freeze on federal student loan payments until May 1, citing the continuing impact of the pandemic. In a statement, the president also said though job numbers are up, he recognized that millions of borrowers would still struggle to make their payments. “Given these considerations, today my administration is extending the pause on federal student loan repayments for an additional 90 days — through May 1, 2022 — as we manage the ongoing pandemic and further strengthen our economic recovery,” Biden said. “Meanwhile, the Department of Education will continue working with borrowers to ensure they have the support they need to transition smoothly back into repayment and advance economic stability for their own households and for our nation.”” *** The largest online progressive news show in the world.
