Who wants to go vault popping for that high end loot
Rushkoff keeps explaining to these people that if it collapses, the wealthy are screwed too. No amount of money can buy subservience when there’s nothing left to eat.
You can’t have an army of armed guards if money no longer means anything to them the moment they no longer care about the pay they’ll turn on you too
If you read the other article, the one which was published a few years back, it’s somewhere in my archives but I’m too lazy to go find it, they’ve thought of that and have devised things which they believe will make the armed guards reliant on them for food/water, or possibly permit them to inflict punishment remotely.
Which, to me, reads like a recipe for disaster: do you really want to rely on an untested system which you literally cannot alter because supplies will be unavailable to keep a gang of armed thugs from killing you?
what could you possibly do to convince your armed security to continue to serve you if the world ends? “I have a plantation that’s still producing food despite everything. You only get to eat if you do as I say.” “No, WE have a plantation that’s still producing food despite everything and a lousy whiny worm trying to tell us what to do.” Even if capitalism kills everything it’ll still lose and even if the capitalists and class traitors “win,” eventually pieces of paper saying you own things will quit mattering. The only possible hope capitalists have is that they can automate the working class out of existence, and I doubt that’s possible. I also doubt the workers necessary to create such a system won’t leave digital backdoors, intentionally or otherwise.
