On Sept. 7 we learned that at least two pro-Cuba and anti-blockade activists in the northwestern region of the U.S. received telephone calls from the FBI, where they were “invited” to converse about the Puerto Rican brigade to Cuba. It is worth mentioning that the support letter sent from that region to the CSC mentioned electoral interests in Miami that coincide with a harassment campaign against the anti-blockade activities in that city, and questioned whether the current FBI harassment in Puerto Rico responds to those same interests.
If you want to know how it’s going in the UK then ppl are getting arrested for expressing a desire to abolish the monarchy. Yes, we’re a totally normal country that believes in free speech…
this is because we don’t actually have free speech. we have freedom of expression, which means basically we are allowed to protest and say what we want, but if legal forces say it is immoral (and everyone’s morals differ), it’s not legally protected. we do not have legally protected freedom of speech in the uk. this is what I mean when I say the uk is fascist.
legal systems can say protesting the monarchy is immoral and a public nuisance and we can be arrested for it.
If you went by what you see on TV you’d think the nation was gripped in a collective outpouring of grief and.. it isn’t! No spontaneous flower tributes, no black armbands. People are just getting on with their lives. The only public displays are by brands and businesses.
Look at the number of flowers in town today under the queen statue. They’ve optimistically set the barriers far back anticipating thousands. There’s about 15. There was no one there paying their respects either. Literally no one. The biggest queue was at a burger van nearby.
