There’s a troubling train of thought I see some places online- some people think Kanye is being cancelled because he pissed off the “wrong people” (Jews.) That kind of thinking, though often unintentional, still furthers the antisemitic lie that the Jews are the ones “in charge” in some way. In reality, brands are dropping Kanye for a combination of the white lives matter shirt ordeal, his antisemitic comments, and his lies about George Floyd. He is being cancelled for *both* his antisemitism and antiblackness

He’s also not being cancelled completely. There’s still thousands of people who support him, and his recent antisemitism has just encouraged neo-Nazis.

See this?

Photo of six men standing over a high way pass with three banners hanging over, one reads "HONK IF YOU KNOW", the other reads "KANYE IS RIGHT ABOUT THE JEWS", and the third reads "GOYIM// TV.TV // REV 3:9, JOHN 8:44", and an American flag is also hanging.ALT

This was hanging over an LA highway just yesterday, the latest in a string of such banners being hung over prominent highway passes.

Kanye West has also announced his intentions to buy the right-wing social media app Parler, to mounting support from the far-right.

Like every other racist, antisemitic, misogynist, and transphopic celebrity, he’s not being cancelled. He’s not becoming irrelevent, people are not stopping their support of him, he’s becoming more relevent than ever. Because bigotry sells.

Marble Statue from Corduba, Spain dated between 20-40 CE on display at the National Archaeological Museum in Madrid, Spain

This statue is of Livia portraying Fortuna or Copia. Livia was deified by her grandson, Emperor Claudius and was worshiped in the city as Fortuna, the goddess who gave men bounty and prosperity. The fruits of the earth held hn her cornucopia symbolise her power. This image, venerated in the imperial cult was an effective propoganda tool for legitimising the state’s authority.
