On this day, 23 December 1948 Argentine revolutionary martyr Clarisa Rosa Lea Place was born. She was arrested by the US-backed dictatorship in 1971 after delivering food to a poor neighbourhood. She later participated in a mass prison escape of left-wing political prisoners, but was recaptured and shot alongside 18 others (only 3 of whom survived) in the Trelew massacre. https://www.facebook.com/workingclasshistory/photos/a.296224173896073/2169136943271444/?type=3

She was the only woman fighter from the Netherlands who directly fought against general Francisco Franco and the fascists. She went to the Aragon front and served until she was wounded in action.
