Black Sabbath, 1963 w/Boris Karloff, Michele Mercier

The lost art form of the horror anthology doesn’t get much creepier than Black Sabbath, a trilogy of chilling tales from Italian horror maestro Mario Bava.

Happy Birthday, Evil Dead II!

On this day in 1987, Evil Dead II blasted its way into theaters! Serving as both a sequel and a remake, Evil Dead II goes back the original and hurls an arsenic-laced pie in its face. With inspiration taken from both H.P. Lovecraft and the Three Stooges, this film is a gloriously bonkers freakshow of cartoon violence, slapstick splatter, and surreal shocks.  Corpses dance in the night, the hand rebels against the body, and madness is king, baby! With very little money, director Sam Raimi and his team crafted a stunning Sin-ematic fantasy that rivals the sights and frights of any big-budget spook picture. On top of all that greatness, it gave us the Bruce Campbell we all adore today, one-liners and all. Now, then, and forever, Evil Dead II is… groovy.
