Detroit Renewable Energy purchased the incinerator in 2018 for about $200 million and has invested $24 million since.

The Free Press reported last year that Michigan Department of Environmental Quality records showed the incinerator exceeded pollution emissions standards more than 750 times within the last five years.  …

On this day, 28 March 1939, the “Stanbrook” ship departed from Alicante carrying around 3500 refugees fleeing Spain following Franco’s victory in the civil war. Two of these passengers, numbers 764 and 1797 were Spanish anarchists who eventually settled in Australia.
