On this day, 25 April 1960, huge numbers of people took to the streets in Seoul, South Korea against the dictatorship which had massacred 180 students a few days previously. On this day, 25 April 1945, Milan and Turin were liberated from fascism following a working class uprising and general strike. Though other towns and cities had been liberated both before and afterwards, it was the 25th of April which would become immortalised in the annual Liberation Day celebration.
