During halfway through of the 20th Century, we seen the Universal monsters, Alfred Hitchcock movies and French horror movies. But one director created a game-changing movie, Night Of The Living Dead which not only introduced zombies into the mainstream but was a sleeper hit despite on a low budget.

George A. Romero made movies that reflected horror within society which was shown in his successful follow-up Dawn Of The Dead and the cult classic, The Crazies. He never shys away in making different kinds of horror movies and will always be known as the Grandfather of Zombie movies.

My personal favourite was his horror anthology, Creepshow which he had collaborated with Stephen King and was completely different to his zombie movies. With Creepshow, he had created some of the scariest tales which were reminiscent of the EC horror comics.

George A Romero is one of the most influential horror filmmakers and I will miss the great work he produced in the horror genre.

George A Romero RIP (4 Feb 1940 - 16 Jul 2017)
