Wax Mask will be released on Blu-ray
on August 27 via Severin Films. The 1997 Italian horror was supposed to be directed by Lucio Fulci (Zombie), but he died before it went into
production. Dario Argento (Suspiria) produces.
Severin is carrying an exclusive two-disc edition for $28. The limited edition version includes a CD of Maurizio Abeni’s original motion picture soundtrack and the slipcover pictured above with art by Austin Hinderliter.
Fulci co-wrote the script with Daniele Stroppa (Witchery), but special
effect artist Sergio Stivaletti (Opera, Cemetery Man) took over
directing duties. Robert Hossein, Romina Mondello, Riccardo Serventi Longhi, Gabriella Giorgelli, and Aldo Massasso star.
Wax Mask has been scanned in 4K from the original negative, supervised by Stivaletti. It includes both English and Italian (with English subtitles) audio options with 5.1 and 2.0 audio.

Small Town Monsters Unveils First Look at MOMO: THE MISSOURI MONSTER
Small Town Monsters, the documentarians who explored Mothman in Terror in the Skies and a Wisconsin werewolf in The Bray Road Beast have turned their analytical lenses on another mysterious American cryptid. Look for MOMO: The Missouri Monster to be released nationwide this Fall following a midnight premiere that’s scheduled at the Kentucky Theater in Lexington, Kentucky on Friday, September 6th with cast and crew in attendance. The premiere will coincide with Cryptid-Con, a cryptozoology and paranormal convention celebrating its third year and featuring a number of renowned authors, television personalities, and speakers.
This film will be a bit different from past Small Town Monsters’ productions, presented as both a narrative horror and a documentary.
Sometimes with a cellphone video you’ll see cops behave bizarrely,
abruptly shouting things like “stop resisting!” or “gun!” when it’s
obvious the suspect is not resisting and is either unarmed or not
reaching for a weapon. The point of it is to establish, on less
revealing recording devices such as bodycams and dashcams, that the
officer has a reasonable fear for their lives. That fear is held to
justify anything bad that might then happen to the suspect, even if it
turns out to be mistaken. And so the weird yelling about guns and
impossible movements becomes a ritual to that end.
Which is to say, if a cop starts shouting “gun!” during an interaction with you, that cop intends to kill you.
And if the cop is poking his gun at you sideways like a cartoon gangster? You better get lucky fast.
