So this week it was revealed in Germany a group of neo-Nazi militants had been working with members of the police to compile a list of left-wing and pro-refugee opponents to murder. They also ordered hundreds of body bags and quicklime along with over 10k bullets with a variety of long and short range weapons.

Centrists and people on the right say Nazism isn’t a threat because they’ve never seen a Nazi. They say theres no war going on the Nazis haven’t been a threat since 1940. Neo-Nazis are literally fucking begging for an opportunity to start a race war, attack political opponents, and commit mass murder.

It takes a special kind of blindness to see dozens of photos of hundreds of neo-Nazis openly marching in the street and say “They’re just joking”. This deliberately dismissive stance is incredibly helpful for white supremacists because they can be comforted in the knowledge they won’t be opposed by people politically closer to them.

So THIS week neo-Nazis in Italy were caught with rifles, handguns, explosives, and a fucking missile. On Saturday outside Belmarsh Prison members of fascist Generation Identity staged a mock execution of “(((globalists)))” while dressed in balaclavas and body armour. Another cell of neo-Nazis revealed to be plotting a violent race war, another week people on the right pretend Nazis haven’t excisted since the 30s.

How many weeks ago was it the National Socialist Movement armed up and attacked a Pride event in Drayton? Does it even matter? Is one neo-Nazi terrorist cell too much? Should we be making excuses when the most extreme of the far right fringes plan terrorist activity? What will it take for white conservatives to start seeing what is screaming in front of them? Find out next week

The secret of happiness is this: let your interests be as wide as possible, and let your reactions to the things and persons that interest you be as far as possible friendly rather than hostile.

Yes, this is real (link to tweet). Yes, Tucker Carlson is literally repeating Nazi propaganda that aided the genocide of the Romani during the Holocaust. Yes, I am furious.

(Also, although there is a large population of Romani in Romania, they aren’t indigenous to Romania. They’re a diasporic group originally from northern India.)

Romani and Jewish have been screaming at the top of their lungs for years about neo-fascism in Europe, and Americans were totally aloof.

Then neo-fascism reared its head in America, but Roma and Jews were left out of the conversation in terms of people being impacted, because our oppression was “over.”

Now Tucker Carlson is on live TV using slurs and Nazi propaganda about Romani people, and I’m 90% most people on the left are just going to ignore it.

It’s fucking starting y'all. It’s happening again.

If you’re not Jewish or Roma PLEASE BOOST THIS.

She was 15 when she began taking days off her education to sit in front of the Riksdag in Stockholm, declaring she’d do this till Sweden reduced carbon emissions in line with the Paris agreement. She gave out leaflets: “I am doing this because you adults are shitting on my future.” She made a couple of speeches internationally that tapped into a profound unspoken understanding in young people; in just six months, nearly one and a half million children across the world were schoolstriking for action on climate change. Her Instagram post on these strikes reads: “Time is much shorter than we think. Failure means disaster. The grown-ups have failed us. And since most of them, including the press and the politicians, keep ignoring the situation, we must take action into our own hands. Starting today. Everyone is welcome. Everyone is needed. Please join in.”

Earlier this month Opec declared Thunberg, and with her the other young climate activists, the “greatest threat” to the fossil fuel industry. Thunberg tweeted them her thanks. “Our biggest compliment yet.” Hers is a voice totally unlike the world’s usual power-cacophony: clean, simple, inclusive, the voice of someone refusing to beguile. She talks ethics to politics without flinching. She cuts through the media white noise and political rabble-rousing to get to the essentials. This is a communal voice and Thunberg is its lightning conductor, and no wonder: when you hear her speak or you read her speeches you know you’re in the presence of the opposite of cynicism – of a spirit, in fact, that rebuffs cynicism and knows that the way we act, every single one of us, has transformatory impact and consequence. “The real power belongs to the people.”
