Prophecy will be released on Blu-ray on November 26 via Scream Factory. The 1979 eco-horror film’s legacy includes inspiring South Park’s “ManBearPig.”

John Frankenheimer (The Manchurian Candidate) directs the monster movie, written by David Seltzer (The Omen). Robert Foxworth, Talia Shire, and Armand Assante star.

Special features will be revealed at a later date, but Scream Factory confirms it will include new interviews with Robert Foxworth, Talia Shire, and David Seltzer.

Less Sex, Fewer Babies: Blame The Internet And Career Priorities

Nate Koch isn’t sure what to make of the online dating scene.

“There’s no rules,” the 23-year-old Colorado resident says. “We don’t know what to do on these apps. It feels like kind of, like, the Wild West.”

And it can often feel extremely time-consuming and unproductive, says Koch, a recent college graduate. “I’m literally applying to jobs at the same time that I’m dating. The similarity between the two is a little, like, horrifying to me,” he says.

The confusion over the rules of romance in the digital age shared by Koch and so many others might explain why millions of Americans are having less sex than previous generations did at the same age. Add in a focus on building a career before having a family, and it all may be contributing to a national birthrate that keeps falling.

All this raises alarms for the economy. Economies need new workers to replace older workers as they retire. When a nation’s birthrate drops too low, certain sectors can experience employee shortages, and ultimately, the economy might shrink.

Priscilla Bogema lives in a rural town called McGregor, Minn., in a part of the state that has more trees and lakes than people.

She came here about 20 years ago seeking solitude during a major crisis in her life. She had just gotten divorced and was dealing with some health problems. “So I came to a place where nobody could see me,” she says.

Now, Bogema is in her 60s, frail and mostly confined to her house. Her arthritis and other health problems have limited her mobility. She struggles with the upkeep of her home and yard. She drives into town once a week for groceries and a movie with other seniors. But she doesn’t have close friends she sees regularly and her children and grandchildren only visit once every few months.

The solitude she once sought is no longer as comforting. “It can get lonely, very lonely,” she says.

According to a recent poll by NPR, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, Bogema is one of about 2.5 million rural residents (about 7% of the total rural population) who say they have no friends or family nearby to rely on. An additional 14 million (about 39%) say they only have a few people. Like Bogema, many feel isolated.
