The Canadian Senate has passed an amendment to a transgender rights bill that would ban trans people from using the bathrooms that correspond with their gender identity. Now, trans people in Canada (and their trans supporters in the United States) are sharing photos on Twitter and Facebook of themselves in public bathrooms they would be legally obligated to use under Senator Donald Plett’s bill. Check the hashtags #PlettPutMeHere and #WeJustNeedToPee for a dynamite collection of trans folks showing why these laws are absurd. Badass. (via BuzzFeed)

I have a right not to see a penis in the ladies room. Men have a right not to see a lack of a penis in a men’s room. I have a right to my opinion. It doesn’t make me a homophobe. It does not make me intolerant. It does not make me a bad person. Your gender issues are not my issues. Maybe we as a society need a third option.

If you’re seeing a penis in the women’s room, sorry to break it to you buddy but you’re the one being gross and peeping in on other women.

Trans people just want to fucking pee. The fact that you’re so concerned about our genitals that you’d spy on us in the loo makes YOU the creep, not us.

Grow the fuck up.

Just to reiterate the point above me: I’ve been using women’s public restrooms for 30+ years. I have literally never, in my entire life, seen anyone else’s genitals in a public restroom. Ever. Stranger or otherwise, accident or otherwise. The suggestion that someone would, for any reason, is fucking bizarre. Seriously, it’s such a weird, bullshit argument.

I was going to say, “get a better one” but actually, what I mean is, “shut up forever”.

Also if you saw a passing trans man in the ladies room you’d flip a tit, even if he has a vagina. Don’t pretend you wouldn’t freak the fuck out. Just say you don’t want trans people to exist at all around you and go.

FUCK YOU TO ANYONE WHO THINKS THAT TRANS WOMEN ARE NOT VALID WOMEN. FUCK YOU VERY MUCH.

TL;DR Zucc is giving up on combatting right wing propaganda on Facebook to appeal to Republicans so the US government doesn’t break Facebook up.

Funny how literally every conservative “left wing bias” accusation against social media companies ends up being THE EXACT OPPOSITE because appealing to them bring in $$$$

This whole administration is a dream for conservatives because Trump relies on them for everything so they can get away with so much even if it contradicts something he said

Model of Egyptian Pikemen

This group of statues of ancient Egyptian pikemen was found in the tomb of Mesehti, a local governor of Asyut at the end of the First Intermediate Period and the beginning of the Middle Kingdom.

The group consists of forty soldiers arranged in ten lines. They are colored reddish brown, their strong tan indicating their continuous and elaborate open-air training. They have a tidy hair cut which covers their ears and a very short kilt to facilitate movement, and they carry lances and shields.

The artist varied the decorations on the shields to add interest and break up the monotony of the group, and also portrayed them with different facial features and heights to create liveliness. This further accentuated by the eyes which show their alertness and strength. while their representation in parallel lines and advancing their left legs creates a rhythm that imbues the group with still more animation.

Middle Kingdom, 11th Dynasty, around 2000 BC. Wood, from Asyut. Now in the Egyptian Museum, Cairo. JE 30986; CG 258

wow so powerful.  what film is this?

Lajja. This film is called Lajja. Lajja, in a general translation from Hindi, means Shame.

It talks about different women in different situations overcoming the shame instilled by the society to keep them under the control of men.

Wow

Whoever created this post… Thank you for introducing me to this film.

In less than a week, a landmark battle over who bears responsibility for the U.S. opioid crisis will begin in federal court.

The case involves thousands of plaintiffs at virtually every level of government and defendants from every link in the chain of opioid drug production — from major multinational corporations such as Johnson & Johnson and CVS, right down to individual doctors. And on Oct. 21, the first trial is set to kick off before a judge in the Northern District of Ohio.

And with the costs of the crisis estimated at tens of billions of dollars and with more than 200,000 overdose deaths since the late 1990s, the stakes are immense — even for people who have never heard of this case. What happens with it will largely determine how much money cities and counties nationwide will have to fight the devastating effects of opioid abuse and when they’ll get it.

But the case is also intensely complicated. So let’s begin with the basics.
