Hügelkultur (German, meaning “hill culture” or “mound culture”) is the garden concept of building raised beds over decaying wood piles. Decayed timbers become porous and retain moisture while releasing nutrients into the soil that, in turn, promote root growth in plant materials. As the logs decay, they expand and contract, creating air pockets that assist in aerating the soil, allowing roots to easily penetrate the soil. This decaying environment creates a beneficial home to earthworms. As the worms burrow into the soil, they loosen the soil and deposit nutrient-rich worm castings, beneficial to plants. An earthworm can produce its weight in castings on a daily basis.
The best decayed wood for a Hügelkultur, according to A Growing Culture, comes from alders, applewood, cottonwood, poplar, maple and birch. Use wood products that have been in the process of decay for about a year (using green, or fresh, wood products will rob the soil of necessary nitrogen). Some wood products, like cedar and black walnut, should be avoided because they produce organisms that negatively effect plant growth.
you literally captured whats called “ball lightning” which is the rarest form of lighting
its so rare that we dont even know how it forms other than by heat, static electricity, and humidity
Hi um! My dad was seeing stuff about riots happening in chile where people are just absolutely destroying stores and stuff and I told him not to trust the news, and I wanted to double check with someone who's more aware of whats going on than me. Could you help me explain whats going on? My dad's highkey for revolution ;;
Basically chileans and like ANYBODY who lives in chile. Are fighting against the system . This is the best resume for what all chileans are fighting
We want a new constitution as well. Because the one we have IN A DEMOCRACY was made in the 1973 dictatorship. Is been 30 years of neo liberalism that only make rich people more rich and basically chileans colapsed in the moment the subway ticked increasef the 4th time in the year.
And as first chileans for protest without ‘violence’ decided to evade the subway ticket. Over 3500 did that. So the goverment got so scared that they decided to bring cops in the subway station. Attacking people SPECIALLY STUDENTS. bc students where the ones that were protesting.
Then protests become BIGGER AND BIGGER. Then the goverment got more scared and decides to make curfew and bring the military on the street and again IN DEMOCRACY.
Tv started to show that there were riots on supermarkets and on the bus stations. But a lot of chileans started to show that a lot of the riots and fires were made by actual cops for show the movement as something bad. Not the mention that the supermarkets and the subway are from privates so like they will not lose money even if they destroy complety the thing :I.
People have died, being tortured and raped by the cops and the tv dont show that. And even if the curfew is shot down at least here the military is still on the street and still attacking chilean citizens.
We only want a better life, a better chile, is not fair that we win 400 dollars per month and even less when we retire ( most chileans win less than 100 dollars when they retire of job), we dont want to die bc we wait months for go to the doctor. Etc etc etc
The Night HE Came Home; John Carpenter’s “Halloween” slashed its way into theaters on this day in 1978! The seminal slasher story popularized the tropes we now associate with the genre and opened the crypt door for a whole generation of masked madmen movies. John Carpenter’s direction and score made him a Ho-rror legend, and Jamie Lee Curtis as Laurie Strode set the standard for all future final girls. Still scary after all these years, “Halloween” proves that you can’t kill the Boogeyman.
This blog is mostly so I can vent my feelings and share my interests. Other than that, I am nothing special.
If you don't like Left Wing political thought and philosophy, all things related to horror, the supernatural, the grotesque, guns or the strange, then get the fuck out. I just warned you.
