What is the one thing that you would change about the climate you live/garden in?

 Reblog with your answer.

For me it would be wetter summers.

In the south-western corner of British Columbia we have a Mediterranean type climate with warm dry summers and wet cooler winters. The stressful season here for plants is summer and the native plants are adapted for drought but it makes it hard to grow other plants from other areas of the world that are used to wet summers.

Almost the opposite…less rain and humidity in the summer. Prime growing season is November to April. Once the afternoon rains start in May, tomatoes and cucurbits are toast.

Rain rain rain. We’re on a dry, south-facing slope. Overall, rain is what we lack, though right now we’ve been having record rainfall and it’s been AMAZING. I hope for more rains and more misty mornings - especially in summer.

Due to the weirdness of how mountains and weather patterns work, we’re actually in one of the driest counties east of the Mississippi, but we’re next to the wettest. I keep hoping that some of their rains will permanently migrate here somehow… drought here is not. good.
