On this day, 29 May 1941, animators for Disney in Los Angeles walked out on strike when 16 union cartoonists were fired for demanding union recognition. Holding out for five weeks, the strike was settled by mediators who ruled in favour of the union on every issue, and the workers received pay increases of nearly 50% in many cases, although Walt Disney was bitter about his defeat until he died (lol). This is our short history of the strike: https://libcom.org/history/1941-disney-cartoonists-strike https://www.facebook.com/workingclasshistory/photos/a.296224173896073/1134322173419598/?type=3

Tonight’s dinner: tested out this new H-E-B boxed dinner, Fideo Loco. (Subbed ground turkey for ground beef as I usually do.) Turned out tasty. #ieatfoodjustlikeyou #imadethis #mycooking #hebgrocery #fideoloco #boxeddinner #quickmeal #groundturkey #tastycakes #localgrocery #cheapeats #witnessmybeanchewing

On this day, 23 March 1918, a trial of 101 Wobblies (members of the radical Industrial Workers of the World union) began in Chicago. They were charged with violating the espionage act for their opposition to World War I. It was part of a concerted effort by the state to break the union.
