I was treated to lunch by @joeartguy and his lovely mum (my bonus mum) during errands we went and ran today! (I got a big bag of clothes that no longer fit donated to the thrift store!) Jason’s Deli brought back my favorite, the Papa Verde potato, baked sweet potato with turkey, provolone, avocado & spinach (I substituted regular ranch for the jalapeno ranch that it comes with; I can’t do spicy. On this day, 10 February 1960, the sit-ins that had been moving through North Carolina arrived in Raleigh. Black students demonstrated against whites-only lunch counters at drugstores across the city; the drugstores responded by closing the counters.

Well let’s see, my hometown + surrounding area served by the metro transit is about 275,000 people so if everybody was taxed four dollars as part of their city taxes, which is the cost of about two rides, you could provide a $1.1 million budget, and no fares required.

Zero-Fare
Intercity Transit’s five-year zero-fare demonstration project went into effect on January 1, 2020. During the demonstration project, Intercity Transit will not collect fares from passengers for some of its services.
Zero-Fare Services:
- All Intercity Transit bus service
- Dial-A-Lift service
