Campaigns said they still have not gotten the party to offer even a basic explanation of how key parts of the process will work. Volunteers are reporting problems with the technology that’s been deployed at the last minute to make the vote count smoother. And experts are raising serious questions about a tool the party has been feverishly assembling to replace the one scrapped after the meltdown in Iowa.

“It feels like the [state party is] making it up as they go along,” said one Democratic presidential aide, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss the process. “That’s not how we need to be running an election.”

Iowa Part 2 is nearly upon us.

If you look at the ingredients list and it’s a bunch of words you don’t even know… neither does your body (x)

Just like if you break apples and grapefruit down into their chemical components, I’m willing to bet that most people wouldn’t recognize the “ingredients” either. It’s a bunch of words you don’t even know:

Don’t use these scare tactics - Chemicals aren’t inherently bad. Literally everything is made up chemicals. Trust me, your body knows what niacin is. It knows how to digest fructose and calcium sulfate. Even if you only consume the most basic and “real” foods that are pulled directly off the vine, you’re still ingesting a series of chemical compounds that you probably can’t pronounce. That’s okay.

thanks to drhoz for submitting!

“If you can’t pronounce it, it’s bad for you” is literally the worst pseudo-scientific scaremongering bullshit tactic. I hate it so much.

I’m pretty sure you can pronounce “arsenic”, but that doesn’t change the fact that arsenic is highly toxic. On the other hand, you couldn’t pronounce “cycloadenosine monophosphate” or “nicotine-amide-dinucleotide-phosphate”, though both of them serve vital roles in human biochemistry and you would die if your body wouldn’t produce them.

Cyanide: Easy to pronounce, very bad for you.

Eicosapentaenoic acid: Difficult to pronounce, very good for you.

It’s more important to know what the chemicals are and why they’re in there.  Anti-intellectualism helps no one.

– James Kennedy, ‘Chemophobia’ is irrational, harmful – and hard to break

I’m gonna keep reblogging this until my knuckles fall off.

This is especially hilarious because grapefruit is well known for being dangerous for some people because of how it can interact with certain medications. Do fruit loops do that?

“Poison is in everything, and no thing is without poison. The dosage makes it either a poison or a remedy.” - Paracelsus

To be clear, this is illegal. And it doesn’t matter that it’s illegal, because political accountability is dead.

Mike Bloomberg is a racist, paternalistic, Islamophobic, oligarch. And that’s without mentioning that Bloomberg has even more sexual harassment allegations against him than Trump does.

Don’t anybody dare @ me or tell me to “vote blue no matter who,” not when this billionaire racist isn’t even a Democrat. As a BLACK man, I shouldn’t have to pick between the racist Republican who wants to use the police to racially profile me, or the other racist Republican who also wants to use the police to racially profile me. That’s not even a false choice - it’s no choice at all.

My Bloomberg story isn’t nearly as horrific as those in the tweets above. My relatives living under Bloomberg’s racist regime simply instructed me to stay out of NYC if I didn’t want to risk being arrested and harassed and possibly inserted into the criminal justice system. And I listened to them.

Mike Bloomberg is an authoritarian who wants use big government to crack down on poor people and black people, but wants less taxes on the wealthy, and deregulation for billionaires. It is not hyperbole to say that Bloomberg is an existential threat to democracy.

Please don’t let him buy the White House.

Bloomberg is the reason i left New York. He created and waved lax laws that allowed realestate developers full control of an already segregated city, allowed them to destroy communities of color for the wealthy children of out-of-towners . and he is the very reason the word “ HyperGentrification” was created. he spearheaded it.

Also…the FUCKING Racism. We didnt think it could get much worse after Guiliani, then this fucker said “hold my weak jaw”.

Thankfully, I don’t think he has any chance of winning; if he gets any traction his opponents can escalate all this to the level of national attention it should have gotten already.

(I’ve been seeing his ads nonstop on the work tv (I hate the work tv) for the last two weeks and wondering why this guy bothers when he’s not in the news or polls otherwise.  But I didn’t have any idea how horrible he made things in NYC.  :( Many thaks to the posters informing us.)

Remember when nobody thought Donald Trump would win? And Bloomberg has tons more money than Trump. He even has dozens of Democratics who have endorsed him. The DNC changed their own rules to allow him into the primary debates.

And, here’s the important thing, Bloomberg doesn’t necessarily have to win. All he needs to do is shave off enough super delegates, and he can deny Bernie Sanders (or Elizabeth Warren) a clear cut win. Bloomberg can make it a contested convention, where another conservative, “moderate” Democrat is selected by the spineless DNC.

So please: don’t casually dismiss the very real danger Bloomberg represents. He is literally the 8th richest person on planet earth, with virtually inexhaustible funds. He can buy the news and rewrite his own history. An oligarch with that many billions to throw around should never be taken lightly. Ever.
