limestone face from the workshop of the ancient egyptian sculptor thutmose. this is believed by some scholars to be the likeness of king ay. ay is a shadowy figure who took the throne after the death of tutankhamun. evidence suggests he married tutankhamun’s widow, ankhesenamun. ay is said to be the brother of queen tiye, tutankhamun’s grandmother, and some scholars believe he is also the father of nefertiti, however this has never been proven.
