Remember Rahul Dubuy who sheltered protestors in his Washington D. C. home? He’s now being hounded by police when he leaves his home. Here he is out for a walk being followed by a crowd of police on bicycles and in cars, flashing their lights.

[ID: An Instagram post by Rahul Dubuy @alvarezdubuy showing a screen capture of a video of the top of his head and a crowd of police on bicycles and in cars following along behind him. He says “My evening stroll brings unnecessary followers… These are OUR streets. There is nothing to see here ‘Authorities’. Keep moving and return to humanity. Godspeed.”]

Here’s the original story for those who missed it.

Reblogging with a link to the instagram post snapshotted above - it’s a full video, you can see them pacing him as he walks.

It’s all cops.

If this doesn’t bother you just on principle, fine I guess (it’s not fine but whatever). But I wanna see someone try to justify the use of resources and funding it takes for that many officers to follow one person who did nothing illegal and merely invited people into his home, which, again, is not illegal.

There are people who can’t afford to feed themselves and here we have a man being followed by no less than 10 police officers whenever he leaves his house. Defund them. We can use the money being wasted on this elsewhere.

How To Avoid Swallowing War Propaganda -

probablyasocialecologist:

Things are not true because a government official says them.

Do not be bullied into accepting simple-minded sloganeering.

Scrutinize the arguments.

Keep the focus on what matters.

Emphasis matters.

Imagine how everything would sound if the other side said it.

Watch out for euphemisms.

Remember what people were saying five minutes ago.

Listen to the Chomsky on your shoulder.

I know it’s poplar fluff and not snow, but this looks like Persephone coming up from the Underworld and kicking winter to the curb.

prudenceevenstar:

According to geographyrealm.com:The seed fluff produced by poplars is also highly flammable. The combustible seeds can quickly catch fire and burn off, leaving underlying grass and other vegetation untouched.

Meanwhile, in Spain:

Spring happens and it’s not photoshopped!

Actually it’s this: a carpet of poplar fluff burns to reveal the grass below at the Parque del Cidacos de Calahorra, Spain.

Barely 10 minutes into 1959′s The Cosmic Man.  The loathsome invader from outer space has yet to appear, and yet we’re already knee-deep in Cold War propaganda.

UPDATE: I had this read all wrong. This is turning out to be a pretty good sci-fi flick.
