The Wicker man [1973]
I’ve watched “The Wicker man” twice in my life, the first time, I confess I didn’t understand much, I started consuming horror content that year and I didn’t really understand the metaphorical messages of the film +it’s Folk horror, so you have to be very patient.
The second time was this year and I was enchanted by the narrative, which reminded me a lot of “Midsommar” by Ari Aster, you know, right, pagan bucolic festival of sacrifice for the harvest.
“The Wicker man” is a pearl of Folk horror that deserves to be watched, but, by mentally mature and patient viewers, after all, as I said above, the film is slow and complex.
In the cast stands out the late Christopher Lee in the role of the enigmatic and disturbing Lord Summerisle.
There are so many references to paganism in this film that they are a full plate for those who like the subject.Superb film
