one of the many capitalists who were behind it, but yes. the major reason the coup occurred was because Evo Morales chose to cancel a joint venture with ACI Systems Alemania to mine lithium in Bolivia, instead opting to establish a publicly owned lithium mining industry in Bolivia that would be run by and for the people. ACISA, as well as various other corporate interests, who were depending on original deal going through, didn’t like that. these corporate interests included, among many others, Elon Musk, who’s plans for his new factory hinged heavily on being able to get cheap lithium from ACISA as a result of the Bolivia deal.

so yes, Elon Musk is one of the people behind it and who is benefiting off it, but he’s hardly the only one.

https://foreignpolicy.com/2019/11/13/coup-morales-bolivia-lithium-isnt-new-oil/

Wrong lol, no coup happened first of all. This whole talk about lithium in Bolivia is kinda hype it’s not a big reason for capitalist to conspire and start coup lmao. Yes Morales wanted to tap into Lithium for the global market but it’s hardly that rare of a resource for people to get involved in a foreign country’s election. So yeah Elon wasn’t behind anything nor was any other capitalist or the US, I mean it’s surprising lol. The US and capitalist of course have done shitty things like this in the past but that wasn’t happening in a Bolivia. It’s nonsense.

HAHA FOREIGNPOLICY.COM that’s cute.

at any rate your denial that any coup occurred at all is absurd on the level of flat-eartherism. what, exactly, is it called when the military expels an elected leader to install an unelected figure? and then immediately begin arresting and murdering opposition, as the Áñez’s goons did? [link][link][link][link] (and US support for the coup is an indisputable matter of fact [link])

what do you have to say to the families of the people murdered by Áñez?

Bolivia contains around 25-45 percent of the world’s lithium reserves [link] and the claim that a non-renewable resource like lithium is “hardly that rare of a resource” is nonsense. the cancellation of the ACI Systems Alemania deal was financially devastating to Tesla, alongside several other capitalist interests which were relying on the deal going through. you expect me to believe the timing was just a wacky coincidence?

hahaha holy shit foreignpolicy.com themselves did an article back in 2009 acknowledging how critical Bolivia was in terms of Lithium:

https://foreignpolicy.com/2009/02/04/could-bolivia-be-the-saudi-arabia-of-lithium/

like they literally just changed the narrative and did a full 180 when it came time to lie to attempt to discredit the (accurate) theory that the coup in Bolivia was motivated by resources. i think this paints a pretty clear picture of the kind of imperialist shill rag that foreignpolicy.com is.

@iggymani how do you explain this? how do you explain your own source contradicting themselves this hard you fucking hack.

If you read the article this idiot posted it provides literally no solid argument for the claim its making, its literally just sour grapes type stuff where this guy is going “yes bolivia has huge Lithium reserves but uh…. they are uh… a bit harder to extract with current technology. Yes. Thats why the US Imperialists actually didnt even want it at all. Why would they put in all this effort for this crappy lithium no one wants?” (narrators voice: everyone wants it really badly).

and foreignpolicy.com themselves acknowledged that the lithium in Bolivia was coveted by capitalist interests back in 2009! like!

Capital interest does not equal conspiracy to interfere with foreign elections and excecute a coup….

historically it actually has equaled that.

@iggymani oh and for more indisputable smoking-gun proof:

care to explain?

Yeah it’s a shitty source full of misinformation, get some primary sources my dude

oh primary sources like these audio recordings of coup leaders conspiring with US officials? [link]

also in the comments you’ve kept trying to deny the veracity of this tweet, directly archived of Áñez’s twitter account by the wayback machine wherein she calls the Aymara people “satanic”-

https://web.archive.org/web/20191113002729/https:/twitter.com/JeanineAnez/status/347734496273113088

so how, pray tell, was this tweet you claim is fake archived directly from her twitter? are you going to try to claim wayback machine are controlled by Evo lmao

Pope Francis calls for about-face, asks Catholics to recognize LGBT Unions -

merelygifted:

This spring, former Pope Benedict XVI referred to marriage equality as “absurd”. His statements in May, 2020 showed that not much had changed from his 1975 opinion, where, in a writing to the bishops, he informed the church that being LGBT was an objective disorder, and seemed to portray it as a cross they would be forced to carry. Fast forward to this morning, when Pope Francis came forward with quite a different viewpoint, as noted by the Catholic News Agency:

“Homosexuals have a right to be a part of the family. They’re children of God and have a right to a family. Nobody should be thrown out, or be made miserable because of it,” Pope Francis said in the film, of his approach to pastoral care.

In the documentary, which aired in Rome last night, Pope Francis discussed his concerns over numerous issues — immigrants, the environment, peace. His discussions regarding the role of the Church on LGBT issues, will make waves.

“What we have to create is a civil union law. That way they are legally covered,” the pope said. “I stood up for that.” …
