important PSA

in a lot of those videos on social media where people are supposedly getting kicked off planes due to being in the capitol riot were actually kicked off for being generally disruptive or, most of the time, refusing to wear masks. the reason you see trump supporters whining in these videos is not because they’re being removed for supporting trump, it’s because a fuckton of trump supporters are against wearing masks. read articles beyond the headlines on these situations rather than out-of-context videos.

a lot of liberals seem to be desperately trying to form some heroic idea of the government saving everyone after the capitol riot when it’s not nearly as significant an effort as you think it is. remember, there were cops supposedly guarding the capitol that opened gates for protesters and took selfies with them. this was caught on video.

government law enforcement officials are not your friends. they don’t have some unbiased “protect and serve” ideology. otherwise the national guard wouldn’t be more present at peaceful blm protests (there’s a video of this I saw recently, i’ll reblog when I find it again) than a situation involving people literally breaking into the US capitol building.

oh yeah this also goes for the FBI lol, they aren’t the “good guys” either. they saw MLK as a “terrorist” threat simply for standing up against injustice in the US. today they still crack down on civil rights activists or even movements just criticizing issues under capitalism (fucking occupy wall street was monitored and suppressed by counterterrorism agents, lmao, you can look this up).

aaaaanyway, I guess that’s it for this rant, let me know if you want anything elaborated. cheers.

Wait until the “but we need US government intervention to protect human rights!” people learn that the concern about “human rights” here is a smokescreen for neocolonialism and imperialism.

Tell me, if the US is a champion of human rights, why is it allied with Saudi Arabia and Israel?

Why did the CIA back genocide in Guatemala and Indonesia?

Why did the CIA install a fascist dictator in Chile?

Why did the CIA install a military dictatorship in Guatemala?

Why does the US government run Guantanamo Bay and other torture camps?

Why has the US government contributed to the suffering and starvation of innocent people in Yemen?

Why is the US prison system making use of slave labor?

Why are people getting forcibly sterilized by ICE?

The real threat to world peace is US hegemony and people are too scared to admit it because they’ll be called unpatriotic commie terrorists or whatever.

And always question the narrative of the US government on foreign policy because time and time again we eventually learn it was all a fucking lie *cough cough WMDs*

LMFAO guy in the notes of my post said true capitalism (that he advocates for) existed only during the industrial revolution…so you miss child labor and preventable industrial disasters??? literally the worst period of capitalism to advocate for…

I believe this is referring to US prisons which would actually beat China…and most other countries

And for anyone confused by “labor camps”

https://www.theatlantic.com/business/archive/2015/09/prison-labor-in-america/406177/

It has to do with involuntary servitude as a punishment for crime being permitted in the 13th amendment.

workingclasshistory:

On this day, 21 January 1950, George Orwell, celebrated British author and socialist who fought against the fascists in the Spanish civil war and revolution, died aged 46. Orwell fought with the socialist POUM militia, and was wounded by being shot in the neck, while many Western journalists and authors just hung out in Barcelona hotels.
While right-wingers are often fond of quoting Orwell to try to defend providing a platform for fascists, Orwell himself was not such a fan, as he described in his account of the Spanish civil war, Homage to Catalonia: “When I joined the militia I had promised myself to kill one Fascist — after all, if each of us killed one they would soon be extinct”.
He also vividly described the atmosphere in revolutionary Barcelona: “The Anarchists were still in virtual control of Catalonia and the revolution was still in full swing… It was the first time that I had ever been in a town where the working class was in the saddle… Waiters and shop-walkers looked you in the face and treated you as an equal. Servile and even ceremonial forms of speech had temporarily disappeared. Nobody said ‘Senor’ or ‘Don’ or even 'Usted’; everyone called everyone else 'Comrade’ and 'Thou,’ and said 'Salud!’ instead of 'Buenos Dias.'… Yet so far as one could judge the people were contented and hopeful. There was no unemployment, and the price of living was still extremely low… Above all, there was a belief in the revolution and the future, a feeling of having suddenly emerged into an era of equality and freedom. Human beings were trying to behave as human beings and not as cogs in the capitalist machine. In the barbers’ shops were Anarchist notices (the barbers were mostly Anarchists) solemnly explaining that barbers were no longer slaves.”
