So it turns out that I need more work than I thought and my insurance covers less than it used to 🙃 I’m trying to scrape together enough for 2 first stage root canals which are the most urgent
I don’t have a paper quote cos I’m going through urgent care atm but a first stage root canal is usually $500. And I need two of them 😬 I have no idea how much my insurance will cover, but certainly less than half

Because the state prioritizes landlords’ right to leech money off of the working class during a pandemic while contributing nothing of value to society over tenants’ right to not die of exposure, we’re about to face a global eviction crisis. That means people will be thrown out on the street to fend off a deadly virus while houses that nobody can afford sit empty. At the same time, countless small businesses and community centers are shutting down because they can’t afford rent
So here are a few guides to squatting, breaking into and living in or otherwise using (e.g. as a social center) abandoned property:
Australia: Crisis! Ipswich - Brisbane (current version from 2016) has quite a few resources aimed at the homeless, in addition to the section on squatting (starts on page 30 of the pdf).
England and Wales: Advisory Service for Squatters website has quite a few resources. There’s a Squatters Handbook (14th edition, 2016). (Certain parts may still be applicable for Scotland and Northern Ireland, but there are disclaimers about certain legal elements being specific to England and Wales.)
Melbourne Squatters Guide (2010) has a section on repairs that should be done ASAP: fixing water pipes, cracked PVC pipes, leaking taps, toilets, roof leaks, and resources for general repair. There are notes about how to get utilities turned on, which were cited in a How to Squat in Abandoned Property article (footnote #17). I can’t guarantee that everyone actually does have the right to have utilities connected as long as the plumbing, wiring, lines, etc. work, but I was more trying to get a feel for winter tips.
On this day, 23 February 2005, the French government introduced a law which directed schools to teach about “positive” aspects of French colonialism.
A bill to honour Algerians who fought for France in the war against Algerian independence, a sentence was added which read: “School courses should recognise in particular the positive role of the French presence overseas, notably in north Africa.”
Over the course of its history, France invaded and colonised places including Morocco, Algeria, Vietnam, Cambodia, Tunisia, Senegal, the Caribbean, and the present day United States and Canada and many more. As well as many mass killings, like other European imperial powers, France abducted over 1.3 million Africans and enslaved them to work on plantations in its Caribbean colonies, which generated immense riches for wealthy French people.

Thanks to Joe Bob Briggs I recently found out about this vintage gem.
Synopsis / Plot:
The sheriff of a small Georgia town on the edge of the Okefenokee Swamp does nothing to stop a family of white-trash moonshiners from trapping and killing defenseless animals. But Sammy, a young swamp-boy, takes matters into his own hands. Assisted by his pet chimp, Chuck, Sammy launches a campaign to free the trapped animals. “Pa” Lucas and his idiot sons don’t take kindly to Sammy’s scheme of beating them out of butter-and-egg money, and are soon chasing Sammy and Chuck over swamp and quagmire. As if young Sammy didn’t have enough troubles eluding the Lucas family, he soon finds himself being hotly pursed by a leopard, an escapee from a circus.
