Cambridge, Mass., calls to end the embargo on Cuba -

fuckyeahmarxismleninism:

The U.S. city of Cambridge, Massachusetts, unanimously approved a resolution Monday calling for an end to the U.S. embargo against Cuba, still in force despite widespread rejection in the United States and abroad.

Cambridge is the second city in the past month to call directly for lifting the U.S. embargo of Cuba, following a similar call from the City of Chicago on February 23.

It is also one of 16 resolutions passed by city and town councils over the past year, many of which have emphasized the need for collaboration with Cuba on COVID-19 treatments considering Cuba’s many advances in this regard.

On this day, 19 March 1935, the Harlem Uprising of 1935 took place. The Great Depression had already disaffected working class people across the world, but with segregation and racial inequalities in the United States, life was particularly challenging for Black people.
Harlem, despite being the center of vibrant artistic and social movements, was no different; forces such as government neglect, employment discrimination, unemployment, poverty, and police brutality created the conditions for an outburst to be inevitable.
Events began with a perceived act of police brutality surrounding Lino Riveira, a 16-year-old Black Puerto Rican boy who was caught stealing a pen knife from a shop. The owner called the police, and by the time they arrived a crowd had begun to gather. Rumours soon spread that Riviera - despite being let go - was killed by police and soon thousands took to the streets. A demonstration organised by the Young Liberators and the Young Communist League would be declared an “unlawful assemblage” by police and soon demonstrations escalated, with participants expropriating goods from stores (“looting”) and damaging property.
The uprising caused about $200 million in damages and about 200 businesses were affected. In the end, 125 were arrested, around 100 were injured and 3 were killed – all of them Black. https://www.facebook.com/workingclasshistory/photos/a.296224173896073/1675966225921854/?type=3

The Mortuary Temple of Hatshepsut, also known as the Djeser-Djeseru (ḏsr ḏsrw “Holy of Holies”), is a mortuary temple built for the Eighteenth Dynasty female pharaoh Hatshepsut, who died in 1458 BC. The temple is located beneath the cliffs at Deir el-Bahari on the west bank of the Nile near the Valley of the Kings. This mortuary temple is dedicated to Amun and Hatshepsut and is situated next to the mortuary temple of Mentuhotep II. [X]

One Step Closer to the Moon with the Artemis Program! 🌙

image

The past couple of weeks have been packed with milestones for our Artemis program — the program that will land the first woman and the next man on the Moon!

image

Artemis I will be an integrated, uncrewed test of the Orion spacecraft and Space Launch System (SLS) rocket before we send crewed flights to the Moon.

image

On March 2, 2021, we completed stacking the twin SLS solid rocket boosters for the Artemis I mission. Over several weeks, workers with NASA’s Exploration Ground Systems used one of five massive cranes to place 10 booster segments and nose assemblies on the mobile launcher inside the Vehicle Assembly Building at the Kennedy Space Center (KSC) in Florida.

On March 18, 2021, we completed our Green Run hot fire test for the SLS core stage at Stennis Space Center in Mississippi. The core stage includes the flight computers, four RS-25 engines, and enormous propellant tanks that hold more than 700,000 gallons of super cold propellant. The test successfully ignited the core stage and produced 1.6 million pounds of thrust. The next time the core stage lights up will be when Artemis I launches on its mission to the Moon!

image

In coming days, engineers will examine the data and determine if the stage is ready to be refurbished, prepared for shipment, and delivered to KSC where it will be integrated with the twin solid rocket boosters and the other rocket elements.

We are a couple steps closer to landing boots on the Moon!
