couple important bullet points here:
- the people who infected everyone else had gotten negative covid tests before traveling to the wedding
- everyone was in a tent. it doesnt say how enclosed the tent was but it would definitely cut down on air flow
- doesnt say whether or not people were wearing masks but i suspect not
- if these people hadnt been vaccinated, it would have been a lot worse
the big delta wave will hit the US pretty soon, and is already starting in states with low vaccination rates. new mutations (delta plus, epsilon and lambda) are on the way; lambda is more infectious (symptoms and severity are unclear). the CDC is wrong, everyone should still be wearing masks indoors and in crowds (which is what the WHO says anyway). children still arent vaccinated.
you do not want to get covid at all, even mild covid. long covid even with mild symptoms is really fucking people up (talk to anyone with a chronic illness about what this is like and hopefully they can scare you straight). even mild symptoms like “brain fog” can effectively ruin your life. one guy got tinnitus from long covid that was so bad he committed suicide.
in ten years youre not going to regret being extra cautious right now, but you could very easily regret being careless.

tumblr provides an abusive relationship. We jump through all kindsa hoops to post stuff, and share sites, images, and info with our like-minded fellow users. tumblr sits there, grinning its head off, coming up with new ways to ignore community desires and needs, make changes only where they aren’t needed, and make it harder for us to use the site. tumblr won’t get rid of the pr0n bots, who still flourish, but still wrongfully flags regular users’ posts. We jump through even more hoops to report and block them, but Hydra-like, six more invariably pop up and replace each one.
We’re still seeing users who post anti-vaxx and plague conspiracy nonsense, which literally endangers LIVES. Is it hard to understand that such behavior must not be tolerated?
The nazis, Qfers, and other supremist (not a typo) scum still proliferate like the one-celled, brainless, bigoted wrigglers they are, goosesteppingly parading their hate w/o consequences. Is it hard to understand that such behavior must not be tolerated, too?
Misogyny still runs rampant, and not strictly among male users. I’ve had anti-woman, pro-merkin von bankrupt, pro-gun, anti-reproductive rights abuse from females who act equally psychotic as the males. Is it really so hard to understand that it must not be tolerated?
None of that crap is needed here or anywhere else, esp given the plague, police brutality, and public bigotry out in meatspace!
Why do we have to download browser extensions to provide features which never should have been discontinued, or others we’ve begged for, but are ignored? Why is tagging our posts complicated by unwanted, inappropriate, often laughable suggestions, instead of suggesting only tags we’ve actually used? Why can we not delete our screwed-up tags, so we’re no longer embarrassed and irritated by them every time you suggest them to us? When can we have tag clouds? When will we be able to run searches on our own blogs?
C'mon, tumblr. Treat us like human beings. Throw out the garbage. Give us some goodies, and love us back.
