October 16, 1908: Birthday of Comrade Enver Hoxha, antifascist resistance fighter and leader of socialist Albania.
From Sam Marcy, “In Defense of the People’s Republic of Albania” (1961):
It is amazing how such a small country, surrounded on all sides by enemies, should have been able to survive and develop under such hostile surroundings.
Of course, the tremendous contributions of the Soviet Union, China and the other socialist countries helped the Albanian Peoples Republic in no small measure. But there is no ground whatever to doubt the assertion of the Chinese Communist Party, that it was accomplished “mainly by relying on their own (i.e., Albanian) efforts.“

“The Holocaust is a privileged genocide” 😑
Why isn’t anyone reblogging this hello??
so this is even more of a mess than the headline describes
all of this was said in an Attempt to try to understand and properly implement a deliberately vague and open to interpretation antiblack bill that’s not really for the teachers to follow as much as it is for the white parents to invoke when their white kids come home with books or discussions about racism and they want to discipline the teachers for it. the vagueness of the bill would allow for something as cruel and antisemitic as a “”“”“fair and balanced”“”“” or both-sidesy holocaust curriculum because its main purpose is to discourage conversations about systemic racism and the black lives matter protests from last year. it’s meant to hold the teachers hostage and make them fear repercussions for teaching anything that would go against a framework that tolerates, legitimizes, and platforms white supremacist viewpoints
I think it’s important to reiterate that the Texan government writes their own textbooks and curriculum that also makes it harder to regulate education standards for when students move in and out of the state. As a result, many Texan children do not learn about these issues or if they do they are insanely water down even more so than the American system is on its own history.
