meritocracy is also shit tho. even if your boss and your landlord WERE ‘better than you’ doesn’t mean they should have rule over your and your life. giving those with ‘merit’ political power will only create a society in which those originally deemed worthy and their descendents form a new ruling class. it will always be in their interest to use their political power to change the system to keep them and theirs in power. the goal is the end of political power, the end of anyone ruling over another.
