they know; that’s not a contradiction in their ideology but part of the point. they want to punish and inflict suffering on people who want to get abortions, who want to use drugs, etc, because they view those things as morally wrong and thus punishing the right individuals as morally correct. whether or not it actually ‘stops abortion’ isn’t the point to them
