TIL that the sculpture used in this photo is actually a realistic size for a deep sea angler fish, and I’m not happy about it.
Deep sea anglerfish.
I said “realistic”–not normal, average, or typical.
And given what this museum in Australia tried to pass off as “life-size” for a deep sea anglerfish, I think I’m being pretty reasonable.

I just don’t like that ANY anglerfish on this planet is capable of engulfing a human head.
I thought they were all fightable-sized.

If you wanna get technical, they aren’t capable of engulfing a human head because the pressures of where one would survive would kill the other. Your head wouldn’t last to where it could be engulfed. UwU
Now sharks and orcas, on the other hand…you can even pet them! :D Give a little *pat pat* and everything!
