Opioid fatalities – driven by synthetics such as fentanyl – in the state were up 80% last year compared with 2018 and punishing heat is making things worse

The Indigenous leader Leonidas Iza on Tuesday demanded–among other things–that the government eliminate the emergency decree and remove the military and police presence around places where protesters have gathered in Quito.
But the minister of government on Wednesday said the government could not lift the state of emergency because it would leave “the capital defenseless”.
I would like to clarify I just saw a live video of police throwing tear gas at a crowd of protesters that were peaceful, and that the protest are populated by a variety of people other than the indigineous groups. I would also like to inform that the president has expressed that he wouldn’t mind if the police killed people when repressing protests. Actually, let me give you a literal translation:
“If in the conflict for order people have to die, I would much rather people on the other side fall rather than our forces.”
So it would be pretty ballsy to call the protestors the violent side in all this.
I have no idea how to help these sort of situations other than calling attention to them, so if you could take a moment to see whats going on in Ecuador, I would appreacite it. I would appreaciate if people would look up the reasons for the protests, which include but are not limited to: Lack of supplies in public schools, rise in fuel prices, rise in food prices, lowering of minimun wage, lack of efficiency in public services, prison unrest, and illegal arrests.

This is to pride discourse like when a new guy comes into the wrestling ring w a chair. Absolute mayhem to the discursive ecology
The number one reason they’re bitching and moaning like this is that per department policy they won’t get paid overtime if they’re out of uniform. At the end of the day they don’t want to show up unless it’s in uniform, to make it clear THEY’RE not gay, and for a couple hundred bucks.
The number two reason is that cops are crybaby cowards so fragile that they need to be coddled 24/7

“This problem is not limited to fashion. As creative industries become more consolidated and more beholden to producing ever-expanding profits for their shareholders, companies stop taking even calculated risks. You get theaters full of comic-book adaptations and remakes of past hits instead of movies about adults, for adults. Streaming services fill their libraries with shows meant to play in the background while you scroll your phone. Stores stock up on stuff you might not love, but which the data predict you won’t absolutely hate. “You have too many fashion companies, both on the retail side and the manufacturing side, being driven by empty suits,” Grain Carter said. Consumable products are everywhere, and maybe the most we can hope for is that their persistent joylessness will eventually doom the corporations that foist them upon us.”
