🧴What are some ways that you’ve been protecting your skin from the Sun this summer? One way the waxy monkey tree frog (Phyllomedusa sauvagii) looks after itself: by secreting its own sunscreen!
☀️The South American inhabitant lives in the Chaco forest, where it spends much of its time sunbathing on branches in the treetop. It cares for its skin by secreting a waxy substance that acts like a self-made sunscreen! Flexible hind-legs help it to spread the “sunscreen” on its back, ensuring its whole body is coated with a protective layer.
