On this day, 11 April 1945, as US forces approached, the inmate resistance seized control of Buchenwald concentration camp in Germany. However, when the Allies took control of the concentration camps many of those interned for homosexuality were not freed, but required to serve out the full term of their sentences under the homophobic Nazi penal code. Those who were released were not acknowledged as victims of Nazi persecution and were refused reparations.

Roman Gateway to Patara, Turkey

Ancient Patara was a wealthy port city at the mouth of the Xanthos River. It was said to have been founded by Patarus, a son of Apollo. The city was noted in antiquity for its temple and oracle of Apollo, second only to that of Delphi.

Patara was originally a Lycian settlement and then served as an important naval base during the wars of Alexander the Great’s successors. It later became part of the Lycian League and then a thriving port within the Roman Empire. Sometime during the Middle Ages the harbour of Patara silted up, rendering the port useless.

Insulin costs like $5 to make. This is murder.

“Insulin has become so expensive…” Insulin doesn’t “become” expensive.

Three pharma companies set the price: Eli Lilly, Novo Nordisk, and Sanofi.

Their CEOs are: David A. Ricks ($16m/year), Lars F. Jørgensen ($3.5m/year), Olivier Brandicourt ($11.8m/year).

This. Is. Murder.

Eugenics, alive and well in 2019.

Not only is it cheap to make, there hasn’t even been any new discoveries or improvements to it even though pharma companies had a TON of time.

So they’re selling the exact same thing with an artificially larger price.

Remember this whenever someone claims price increases are necessary due to research
