Incidentally, if you are fishing any stream or river in the Mississippi river watershed and catch any fuckers that look like this;
DO NOT THROW THEM BACK FOR FUCK’S SAKE.
That’s an Asian Carp, and they ARE invasive. The Iowa DNR encourages people to catch, kill, and eat as many as possible.
They’re also tasty as hell, even though they’ve got lots of bones.
Also, yes, this fish has weird eyes that are set real low and look downwards.
It does not have two eyes on the same side; it just has a mark there that looks sorta like one.
Another pic;
They mostly eat plants, but sometimes will get snagged when line fishing. But, they also do THIS;
Midwesterners being who we are, we immediately knew what to do; BOWFISH THEM SHITS
And INVENT THE SPORT KNOWN AS ‘SCARPING’, which is just netting them out of the air/smacking them with baseball bats/spearing them with pitchforks/ect while waterskiing;
See…I’m good with a bow…but not that good. I AM however much better with a net and having the prey come to me.
…Does anyone want to take me to go Scarping?
You can also use a shotgun
The DNR actively encourages all inventive ways of killing them off that people can come up with. There’s no limit on them, so you can fill up the boat.
And they’re DANGED tasty. Nice mild firm white flesh.
Wrong! Tricking fish and killing them is actually NOT a good thing! It’s a BAD ONE! I’ve caught these and they are cute! It’s not the fishes fault you don’t like them! They may be invasive, but it is not our duty to punish the idividual! Give these Karp a lil kiss on the nose and THROW THEM BACK!
This is a troll right
It’s not! Did you know that fish are actually good and nice? It’s true!
If you would like to know about a truly invasive species…… look in the mirror, love.
These things are dangerous for the environment. You are definitely fuckin with me.
Armchair environmentalists are really out in spades this morning. In my experience, these people will always drum up a reason to kill an innocent fish/rat/hog that’s just trying it’s best to find something, anything, real in this messed up world.
Ask yourself: If at the end of this story, God is a fish, and you have been reeled into her vessel, will your concerns for the ecosystem still hold priority?
Whatever the hell you’re smoking it’s damn rude not to share.
“if at the end of this story, God is a fish” is the most absurd godamn way to end an argument and they went out on it like a fucking mic drop.
Like for real, whatever the hell they’re on must be one fuckin bitch of a fun ride, and they’re not sharing with the rest of us, how rude.
I saw posts about this post as I was scrolling through my feed and it did not disappoint. This is the most aggressively human thing I’ve ever seen.
Because the sign itself has little to do with duke energy. They’re just sponsoring. Like those ‘sponsor a highway’/‘sponsor a stream’ signs you see all the time when you’re driving.
They’ve ‘sponsored’ this section of public land, theoretically paying for its care, which is tax deductible, meaning they’re not actually paying for it at all. They’re getting a tax write off, and are trying to offset the tonnnn of negative press they’ve had for one thing after another after another. They’re not losing a cent, the people are still footing the entire bill.
The sign itself may or may not have been thought up by someone directly involved with duke energy. It could have just as easily been someone working for the city. But it’s just babble that reminds you—Oh, Duke Energy is invested in your community!
It’s not even like it’s an ad for people to choose them. You don’t choose your energy provider. It’s genuinely just the most straightforward propaganda possible. Duke Energy Cares About The Environment—YOU Are The Real Threat.
Went ahead and set up a patreon for WIPs and comic things I usually don’t post publicly! There’s some stuff already up and I’ll be adding more, obviously! All content is accessible as long as you pledge at least $1 for now 💛
I didn’t know Mr. T pityed fool’s that weren’t woke, but that’s awesome. #respect
“I think about my father being called ‘boy’, my uncle being called ‘boy’, my brother, coming back from Vietnam and being called ‘boy’. So I questioned myself:“What does a black man have to do before he’s given the respect as a man?” So when I was 18 years old, when I was old enough to fight and die for my country, old enough to drink, old enough to vote, I said I was old enough to be called a man. I self-ordained myself Mr. T so the first word out of everybody’s mouth is “Mr.” That’s a sign of respect that my father didn’t get, that my brother didn’t get, that my mother didn’t get.“
-Mr. T on the subject of his name
I had no idea he put this much thought into this wow
