Scotland launches 20p deposit scheme for drinks cans and bottles -

merelygifted:

All drinks bottles and cans round the world should have the same deposit on them - one which is high enough to encourage redemption, and returning them must be easy!

workingclasshistory:

On this day, 8 May 1928, Luisa Lallana, an 18 year old Argentinian anarchist factory worker was murdered by a strikebreaker during a dockers’ strike. The previous month, stevedores in Rosario walked out demanding their first pay increase in 5 years. Luisa and some of her colleagues from the Mancini burlap bag factory were distributing leaflets from the Women’s Port Committee in support of the dockworkers, when Juan Romero, a scab and member of the extreme right paramilitary Patriotic League of Argentina, shot her in the head. She died that afternoon. The following day, local unions, the anarchist union FORA and the Communist Party called a general strike in protest. Thousands of people downed tools and marched, and her funeral procession was led by a column of 1000 women. Police violently attacked the mourners, while two warships arrived in the port to reinforce the police and paramilitaries. In all, 11 workers were killed during the strike that month.

Cleaning the oceans one step at a time

Two Australians created this container that collects plastic, paper, oil, fuel and detergent floating in the ocean. They want to implement it the middle of next year to clean up the sea worldwide. It seems a great idea. The only “but” as always is money, so they are raising funds to get to their goal. You can see their project and donations here.

Fucking genius!

Boost!!👏🏾

There’s only 9 days left and they aren’t even 35% funded. Boost and help them out!

7 days left, please help out if you can. Trash in the ocean is a massive, massive problem to the eco-system, food chain, climate and wildlife.

Pleaaaaase consider. My environmental science classes talked about this for months. There are literal Giant islands sub islands of plastic floating in our oceans it affects every country if you eat fish it affects you if you eat anything from the ocean it affects you if you eat from anything that has come from water it affects you please consider funding them.
