What the fuck, this is basically forcing any woman who tries to exit the industry right back into the industry since they’ll probably be fired from any other job they try to pursue.
That’s not a bug in the system, it’s a structural feature of patriarchy.
This kind of thing needs to be illegal. It’s a serious barrier to any woman trying to exit the sex industry.

As a sex worker, I sincerely want there to be more nuance in this conversation than “Sex work bad, sex work is patriarchy”
“Scammed into making an OnlyFans” isn’t something that happens often at all, the grand majority of people start an OF out of financial insecurity and aren’t just helpless and misguided.
Also this idea that sex workers lie to young girls and women about sex work to get them to start is also extremely toxic and false. Every sex worker I know talks in extreme detail about why you should HEAVILY consider starting this work because there’s basically no going back and there will always be a paper trail back to your erotica.
I sincerely have no idea what y’all are talking about with these posts anymore and I sincerely feel like some of you just want to shame sex work while avoiding the fact that you’re also shaming the people who do it willingly and aren’t this extreme of someone who was manipulated into it.
YES there are issues within the industry, but I almost never see nuance in these conversations and miss the point of these posts entirely which is that we just want to live in a world where we can both do sex work and be respected as human beings.

Hey, uhhhhh, that article title is SUPER misleading.
Here’s a quote from that article that better explains what happened (emphasis mine):
Texas DPS officials ultimately put together a list of 16,466 requests for gender changes on licenses between June 2020 and June of this year. But they struggled to determine the reasons for these requests—some Texans requested to change the gender on their license because they were trans, but others requested the change by mistake, or due to an error on their original license. “Ultimately, our team advised the AG’s office the data requested neither exists nor could be accurately produced. Thus, no data of any kind was provided,” the DPS spokesperson told the Post.
No data was provided! No “registry” was created! Texan trans folks do not have their name on some sort of list because of this request. And this quote explains why.
It is, of course, extremely concerning that the Texas AG made the request in the first place. Texan trans folks should be on alert; and, frankly, trans folks in other red states (primarily) should also be concerned that their states might try to follow suit.
But it’s misinformation to say that a registry was actually created because of this request. No data was provided (and, most importantly, the data doesn’t exist in the place the AG was looking for it), and therefore no registry could have been created. We have to be really, really careful not to create/spread misinformation about issues like this. Misinformation makes it much harder to fight issues effectively, and also spreads disproportionate panic.
