Day 31 – August 1995 – Issue 3: As Godzilla lies, possibly dying, as a giant bat-creature from space arrives on Earth looking for food. Professor Yoshiwara has been arrested because Godzilla’s blood has been tainted with the poison she created and is contaminating the environment. She had also developed an antitoxin for the poison which the governments want to help people possibly affected by contact with Godzilla’s blood. Bagorah arrives and battles with Cybersaur. Bagorah is a very cool creation. It is more bat-like than Batragon from the Marvel series and looks like a predecessor to the mutated bat in Godzilla the Series (1999). There is also an uncanny resemblance between Bagorah’s face and that of Cloverfield (2008). Story by Kevin Maguire. Cover art by Arthur Adams.

Day 35 – December 1995 – Issue 7: While the Dianii hunt Godzilla, Colonel Cameron and his soldiers take over the Dianii ship with a member of G-Force and the TV reporter in tow. On this day, 21 May 1941, a strike began of actors in Norway against Nazi occupation. Many actors, who were unwilling to perform after the Nazis took over broadcasting, had previously signed a secret pledge to go on strike if any artist was fired for political reasons. Six actors refused to work on the radio when ordered to by Nazi authorities including Tore Segelcke, Lillemor von Hanno, Gerda Ring and Elisabeth Gording (pictured, clockwise from top left). On 21 May they were summoned to Oslo police HQ for interrogation, and all had their work permits revoked. That evening, workers walked out, shutting down every theatre in the capital. By the following day, the strike had spread to Bergen and Trondheim. The Gestapo began threatening the actors, but they voted overwhelmingly to continue the strike. On 24 May, German authorities gave an ultimatum to the workers, and began arresting union representatives. But even after this, and being threatened with the death penalty, the strike continued for 5 weeks. In the wake of the dispute, the Nazis decided to take complete control of theatres, but the general public had no interest in fascist “entertainment” and so boycotted them.

Night Killer will be released on Blu-ray on June 25 via Severin Films. It was originally distributed in its native Italy as Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3, despite being completely unrelated to the franchise.
The 1990 giallo/slasher hybrid is directed by Claudio Fragasso (Troll 2), with gore reshoots helmed by Bruno Mattei (Hell of the Living Dead). Peter Hooten and Tara Buckman star.
