Day 43 – September 1996 – Issue 16: This final issue includes, like all previous issues, a letter section. In particular they comment that they hope Godzilla will return to print one day. It would, but not at Dark Horse.
The story starts with Godzilla resting at the bottom of the ocean. By some mean which cannot be explained since this is all from G’s point of view, he is transported back to the Cretaceous. This story could have been included in the time-travel story arc, but also seems to fall into the Dark Horse series Age of Dinosaurs. Another enormous space dragon-creature has arrived to snack on the remaining dinosaurs of this period. It spies Godzilla and thinks he would make a much bigger dinner (much like Bagorah), but the Big G is a formidable opponent and gets the upper hand. But the creature tries to leave just as the dooms-day asteroid strikes, killing it and the other land animals as Godzilla sinks back into the ocean, only to awaken in the present time with a piece of dragon in his claw. The space dragon is a pretty cool design, and the storyline is in part similar to the third Rebirth of Mothra movie in 1998 with King Ghidorah. A great fast-paced story with great art, both courtesy of Bob Eggleton who also supplied the cover art.
This ended the reign of Godzilla in comic form for North America (as far as I know) for the 20th Century. I really enjoyed re-reading these from an older perspective. The Marvel stories are a bit dated, but still enjoyable and worth keeping for now. The Dark Horse series is pretty well constructed and I like that it paid homage to the Showa and Heisei series.
On a side note, I found out online that Fox Kids featured a couple of short Zilla-related comic stories (based on the animated series) in their magazine around 1999. If you’re interested you can find information here: https://wikizilla.org/wiki/FOX_Kids_Magazine_Issue_37
IDW would take up publishing Godzilla comics/graphic novels starting March 2011. It seemed to me a very successful run with a license that included all TOHO Kaiju. Since it’s such a recent release, I won’t be posting any thoughts on it. YET. Right now I’m just going to sit back and enjoy the new GODZILLA KING OF THE MONSTERS.

There’s nothing magical about the number 10,000.
In fact, the idea of walking at least 10,000 steps a day for health goes back decades to a marketing campaign launched in Japan to promote a pedometer. And, in subsequent years, it was adopted in the U.S. as a goal to promote good health. It’s often the default setting on fitness trackers, but what’s it really based on?
“The original basis of the number was not scientifically determined,” says researcher I-Min Lee of Brigham and Women’s Hospital.
She was curious to know how many steps you need to take a day to maintain good health and live a long life, so she and her colleagues designed a study that included about 17,000 older women. Their average age was 72. The women all agreed to clip on wearable devices to track their steps as they went about their day-to-day activities.
It turns out that women who took about 4,000 steps per day got a boost in longevity, compared with women who took fewer steps. “It was sort of surprising,” Lee says.
Another surprise: The benefits of walking maxed out at about 7,500 steps. In other words, women who walked more than 7,500 steps per day saw no additional boost in longevity.

this is why they’ve built the weird hell that is the lifeblood of silicon valley - the market bubble of harvested internet advertising data, which isn’t based on any sort of material production and as such threatens to burst with a disastrous economic collapse
That’s the opinion of one of the select band of economists who predicted the 2008 economic collapse, which started with the bankruptcy of Lehman Brothers bank a decade ago and ended up affecting every country in the world.
Ann Pettifor predicted that crisis in 2006, more than two years before it actually struck.
Now she thinks the global economy is in danger once more thanks to huge corporate debt, and the prospect of rising interest rates in the United States.
Ape Canyon was reportedly the site of a violent encounter in 1924 between a group of miners and a group of apemen. These allegations were reported in the July 16, 1924 issue of The Oregonian. Fred Beck, one of the miners, claimed they shot and possibly killed at least one of the creatures, precipitating an attack on their cabin, during which the creatures bombarded the cabin with rocks and tried to break in.
