neko-nyoko asked: Do you have any book/video recommendations to learn about anarchist Spain?

kropotkindersurprise:

Most of my Gifs tagged with Spanish Civil War come from this amazing documentary: Living Utopia

Some good books:
- A new world in our hearts: the faces of Spanish anarchism
- Collectives in the Spanish Revolution - Gaston Leval
- We, the anarchists! A study of the Iberian Anarchist Federation (FAI) 1927-1937 - Stuart Christie
- Homage to Catalonia - George Orwell
And I haven’t read it yet but I bet it’ll be good:
- The Method of Freedom: an Errico Malatesta Reader - Errico Malatesta

I am fairly sure there are other explanatory factors for a dropping life expectancy, such as skyrocketing obesity rates and no one exercising enough. There’s not much evidence that increases in the quantity of working hours is linked to a dropping life expectancy.

ya ever hear of researching shit before you embarrass yourself?

it’s also funny that u would imply that people not getting enough exercise is in no way linked to people working longer hours

Who remembers the godawful movie ‘The Horror of Party Beach’? I chose this creature as my subject for a mentorship project with Krystal Sae Eua @iamsadpanda. Over the course of 4 weekend sessions, she guided me through a ton of helpful approaches, techniques, and artistic tricks in Brush and Keyshot, and helped me bring this creature to finish. It was a privilege to watch her work, and learn from her. She makes everything seem so easy. And, right in the middle of that, I was lucky enough to catch a workshop with Raf Grassetti @rafgrassetti, and doubled up on the education. Damn, these guys are the real deal. Learned a ton from both of them. Follow both, and when they announce a workshop, a mentorship, whatever, JUMP ON IT. Much thanks to both for putting themselves out there so we can all learn from the best.

About the creature, it always seemed really cool to me despite how awfully its constructed. I do love the head forms tho, and always found it frightening. So I made sure to keep that, and changed how the mouth worked, and took some liberties with the anatomy and texturing. Not too different, but not the same. Krystal was amazing at showing how to address anatomical forms, and had some really clever ideas for how this creature might prey on unsuspecting people, which led to a lot of the mouth forms. More images to come of that and the progression of the model.

Amazing how much more threatening it looks when it doesn’t have a mouth full of hot dogs

Ancient Egyptian mummy hair unearthed with curls preserved after 3,000 years

Ancient Egyptian mummies’ locks were found in perfectly preserved condition despite being over 3000 years old, in a shocking new discovery.

Russian scientists unraveled the mystery behind Ancient Egypt’s hair fashion, leaving mummies with immaculate curls lasting thousands of years.

Using state-of-the-art technology, researchers were finally able to reveal the pharaohs secret hair balm serum.

The special formula contained beef fat, castor oil, beeswax and pine gum, with optional aromatic pistachio oil. Read more.
