Wow I never even thought about how fire alarms are not assessable for certain people with disabilities. Really goes to show how we take things for granted.

Is this why some of the fire alarms flash in public buildings?

Accessing another way of alerting people is awesome!

I didn’t even know that

Fire alarms that flash are cool, but if you’re asleep and deaf you don’t sense it so adding smell is so ingenious

Other methods have included wiring beds to the alarm, so that the bed vibrates or shakes when the alarm goes off. Facts!

This is awesome

On this day, 2 June 1863, the Combahee River raid took place, with formerly enslaved and underground railroad activist Harriet Tubman leading 150 black Union soldiers. The only woman known to have led a military operation during the American civil war, it was a major success in which 750 enslaved people were freed and the estates of several wealthy secessionist landowners were looted and burned. Tubman has of course been in the news again recently, following the Trump administration deciding to push back featuring her on the $20 bill by several years until after Trump leaves office. She had been set to replace Andrew Jackson, the former president and vicious slave owner, who owned hundreds of enslaved people during his lifetime, whom he beat and whipped. Jackson also ordered the forced removal of large numbers of Native Americans, killing tens of thousands.

Donald Trump is a racist.

His administration is racist.

And his supporters are reveling in that racism.

Disgusting.

Years Ago, Black Feminists Worked Together to Unmask Twitter Trolls Posing as Women of Color. If Only More People Paid Attention. -

adulthoodisokay:

#EndFathersDay and the corrective rise of #YourSlipIsShowing is the story of a community that, mostly ignored by institutions, chose to fight back with the limited tools available. But despite all their efforts, Hudson, Crockett, and the other black feminists watched as the very same 4chan boards that had birthed #EndFathersDay spawned a new misogynistic harassment campaign mere months later: Gamergate. They watched as women like Zelda Williams and Zoë Quinn were aggressively bullied by accounts using many of the same tactics deployed during #EndFathersDay. And eventually, they watched as the 2016 election campaign unfolded and the very same forces that had been antagonizing them for years rebranded themselves as the alt-right.

This is an excellent piece.
