On this day, 5 August 1936, Spanish railway worker, civil war military leader and anarchist Buenaventura Durruti gave his famous “new world in our hearts” interview with journalist Pierre Van Passen. This is the quote in full: “We have always lived in slums and holes in the wall. We will know how to accommodate ourselves for a while. For you must not forget that we can also build. It is we who built these palaces and cities, here in Spain and America and everywhere. We, the workers. We can build others to take their place. And better ones. We are not in the least afraid of ruins. We are going to inherit the earth; there is not the slightest doubt about that. The bourgeoisie might blast and ruin its own world before it leaves the stage of history. We carry a new world here, in our hearts. That world is growing in this minute.”

On this day, 12 August 2017, 32-year-old anti-racist Heather Heyer was killed and dozens injured in a white supremacist terrorist attack in Charlottesville, Virginia. Heather was one of thousands of people protesting against a Unite the Right rally of neo-Nazis, Ku Klux Klan activists and other white nationalists and anti-Semites, when she was hit by a car driven at speed deliberately into the crowd by 20-year-old Nazi James Alex Fields Jr, who was pictured previously on the Unite the Right protest holding a shield emblazoned with the logo of Vanguard America, a far right group. Elsewhere in the city, another group of fascists attacked and viciously beat DeAndre Harris, a young African-American education worker, leaving him with spinal and other injuries. In this seated statue of King Thutmose IV, he and his mother Tiaa are embracing each other. His mother was a secondary wife of his father Amenhotep II.
Hieroglyphs on both sides of the chair give the names and titles for Thutmose IV and his mother Tiaa. She was “the Great Royal Wife and Mother of the King.” These titles were reserved for the first lady. Thutmose IV elevated his mother to be the Great Royal Wife after he became king.

That’s not even remotely true.
The Hatch Act says they can’t actively campaign for a candidate or donate, not that they’re not allowed to have or express personal opinions on current political events.
