On this day, 14 September 1989, seven members of Aids campaign group ACT UP infiltrated the New York Stock Exchange and chained themselves to the VIP balcony in protest at the high cost of the only approved Aids drug, AZT. Shortly after the protest Wellcome cut its price by over a third.
