A lot of assholes respond to this by saying that student loans are a choice and cancer is not.
But plenty of people also say that cancer is a choice, because there are actions (such as smoking cigarettes) that can increase a person’s chance of cancer.
If you start separating people into “deserving to suffer” and “not deserving to suffer”, it’s only a matter of time until society’s definition of “deserving to suffer” includes people who you don’t think it should.
So how about we just help people who are suffering and stop arguing about who deserves it?
Also, how many of these assholes are against universal healthcare?

Justin Roiland, the co-creator of Rick and Morty and founder of High on Life Studio Squanch Games, has been charged with felony domestic violence and false imprisonment in California. As reported by NBC News, the charges relate to a May 2020 criminal complaint for events that occurred in January 2020, and the proceedings have not been publicly reported on until today.
